Hi, Romer!


With respect to "fat burning foods," there are three key ideas about nutrition to understand. Namely, the "thermic effect" of food, how to boost your metabolic rate, and the order of macronutrients your body prefers to use.


The three macronutrients of food are proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. However, the caloric cost for your body to use them significantly differs.


In relation to the thermic effect of food, refined (processed) carbohydrates and fats have about a 3% rate, which means that it requires only about 3 calories for your body to use (burn) 100 calories of refined carbohydrates and fats. By that, they are not considered fat burning foods.


Some natural (unprocessed) carbohydrates have about a 20% rate.


Proteins, however, have up to a 30% rate! So, they are considered the best fat burning foods.


Moreover, some proteins are even better than others are. We can call those super-charged proteins!


So, in terms of its thermic effect, protein has twice the power because your body must work harder to process proteins than to process either fats or carbs. (Drinking plenty of water helps your body do this.)


So, eating specific proteins can significantly rev up your metabolism and they are considered the best fat burning foods.

ALL foods contain calories and when you eat more but burn less, then fat deposits increase. No matter how healthy you eat, it is just possible that your calorie intake increases.


So though certain foods help you to burn a greater number of calories than the calorie value of the food itself, thus resulting in a possible weight loss, the focus should be on eating the right kind of food and burning calories through movement and exercise.


However, that being said, let us turn our attention to the kind of foods that may be called as “fat burners”.


Foods that are rich in Vitamin C have the properties of acting as fat burners. Limes, lemons, oranges, grapefruit and vegetables like, broccoli, cabbage, celery, carrot, watermelon and apple fall into this category. Broccoli and cabbage contain high quantities of calcium and vitamin C, and is also fibrous.


What vitamin C does it dilutes the fat and thus renders it less effective. It also becomes easier for such fat to be flushed out of the system. Pectin is found in apples and mot fresh fruits. This substance is said to be able to limit the fat that is absorbed by the cells.


In addition to this , pectin helps in the absorption of watery substances. The reaction of the watery substances on the cells makes it release fat deposits.


Breakfast foods like Oatmeal, skimmed milk and whole grain cereal and even spicy foods containing peppers are considered as foods that burn fat. Oats are a good source of vitamins, minerals and fiber. The capsaicin present in peppers induces the body to produce more stress hormones which in turn revs the metabolic rate burning more calories in the process. Soy is the wonder product, which has chemicals, which help fat from being deposited and also helps to act on the fat deposits in the body by breaking them down. Soybeans enhance the body’s ability to do away with fat.


The juice of garlic or the oil of garlic has the same protective property towards body cells and catalyses the action of getting rid of body fat. Many Indians aware of this fact are mixing their atta with soy flour.


Black Tea, coffee, and green tea also perform the same function. Consuming these foods and doing exercise would increase the metabolic rate of the body. Since the metabolism is boosted and the foods themselves are deficit in calories, the energy and fat that is stored in the body help in the digestion process. In short such foods take longer to digest and require more energy to break them down. These foods are often termed as negative calorie foods. Such foods often contain a lot of water, high percentage of fiber and are low in fat.


Water has always been in the news. Not only is it a natural product, which suppresses appetite, flushes toxins and excess sodium, but is also known to have contributed to an increase in the metabolic rate. The liquids and solids present in soup is also said to have the same properties. Low fat yogurt has been touted to be a rich source of calcium, which helps in weight loss. The bottom line here is that your body has to be taught to burn fat efficiently. Exercise—increase your muscle density (this is the area where calories are burnt). Increase the Basal metabolic rate and burn those excess calories

Vitamins cannot burn fat, nor can they increase metabolism. Rather, they give your body, muscles, and cells the background they need to help you repair and build muscle when you work out and diet. They are supplements to another diet plan. As much as some companies (the ones who are trying to make money off of you) would like you to believe it, a vitamin is not a diet plan by itself.

There are really no specific vitamins that will increase fat burning to a noticable point. That falls into the hands of supplements (diet pills), which in my opinion don"t work to well themselves except for a small few.


Diet is the key to burning fat. Take in slightly less calories then what your body needs to maintain weight, and make sure you get most of those calories from good foods. Ex. Lean protein, Low glycemic carbs, and healthy fats. Another thing that you can do is to take your current daily diet, and spread it out over more meals. For example..if you are eating 3000 calories a day over 3 meals, that is 1000 Kcal per meal. Spread that out to 6 meals per day at 500 calories, and your body will be more likely to use most of those calories up without having to store such a huge surplus.

I"m a vegetarian and need to know what natural vitamins i should be taking? And is there any natural vitamins that could speed up the fat burning process?

If your vitamin contains chromium pioclinate, it can help stabilize your blood sugar, resulting in a constant metabolic burn. I"d also advocate fish oil capsules, but I think that would be outside your vegan standards.

List of Foods that burn fat:


1. Fruits rich in vitamin C – Citrus Fruits: like limes, lemons, oranges, guava, grapefruit, papaya, sweet lime, tangerines and tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C and fibre and have fat burning properties so they may be called as FAT BURNING FOODS or FAT BURNERS or FIGHTERS.

Vitamin C helps the body process fat faster and also stimulates the carnitine amino acid which speeds up the body’s fat-burning capacity.

Vitamin C dilutes the fat and makes it less effective and helps in releasing the fat from the body.

4. Nuts help feel full while also increasing the body"s ability to burn fat, says author Jordi Salas-Salvado of the University of Rovira i Virgili in Reus, Spain.

5. Chilies: Foods containing chillies or cayanne pepper are considered to be as foods that burn fat. Chillies contain capsaicin that helps in increasing the metabolism. Capsaicin is a thermogenic food, so it causes the body to burn extra calories for 20 minutes after you eat the chilies.

6. Proteins: Protein rich foods and high fiber foods are the best as foods burning belly fat. Protein needs more energy to digest than fat as so eat low calorie dairy products, beans, whole grains, oatmeal, eggs, etc. As much as possible.

Lentils are high in protein and soluble fiber, two nutrients that stabilize blood sugar levels, therefore lentils are a great tummy flattener," according to Tanya Zuckerbrot, R.D., author of The F-Factor Diet.

7. Some of the other foods that may be included in the list of fat burning foods are asparagus, beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, chillies, beans, soybeans, sweet potatoes, blueberries and watermelon.

Hi,

This is a great question and basically a fat burning food is a food that burns more calories than it contains. It also helps speed up your metabolism for great fat burning effect! You need a nice balance of carbs, fat, and protein. If you restrict too much of any one in particular, you body will will crave it. I"ve been researching losing weight for a long time now and I was able to lose 30 pounds in 3 months using simple nutritional advice and learning how the body works. Don"t do what many people do by eating one meal a day because it is the worst thing you could possibly do, believe me. Your body will slow down your metabolism because you are eating less and consuming less calories. You will lose weight as first but your body is built as a survival machine and it will try and keep you alive if you try to starve yourself. When your metabolism slows down, you will store fat and you will not LOSE weight fast. You have to eat food to lose weight. I know this sounds weird but any nutritionist, fitness trainer, and doctor will make you eat food in order to lose wight. Eat 3 meals a day and 3 snacks. Make sure you space them out 2 hours apart and drink plenty of water too. I"ve listed articles that help to burn fat and lose weight so focus on those foods like lean protein, vegetables, whole carbs..etc. Whatever you do, don"t go eating alot of sugary foods like cake, cookies, ice cream, fast food. I know it tastes good but it wont help you. Eat good clean food that will help raise your metabolism. You want to help boost your metabolism at all costs because that is your "fat burning engine." Focus on that and you will do just fine. The other important thing is you have to stay consistent. Don"t stop eating your 3 meals packed with good protein, some healthy carbs, and vegetables. Don"t stop snacking on healthy snacks in between either because that will help boost your metabolism. Also, don"t eat the same thing all the time, your body will get used to it and you will not lose as much weight so keep changing around your foods. For ex: Eat a yogurt for a snack one day, then a piece of fruit the next, then a handful of nuts, then a small salad…you get the idea. I go in much greater detail in the articles. By the way, an exercise program is good too. However, when you jog on the treadmill, don"t simply jog. Train like a sprinter for the olympics to lose weight. Sprint as fast as you can for about 30-60 seconds and then take a minute break by walking at a normal pace. Then repeat the process. This is called "interval training" and this will help get your heart pumping very fast and will burn calories better than just jogging. When working out, focus on big muscle groups. The biggest are legs, back, chest and abs. Every pound of muscle you gain burns about 50 calories a day so gaining some muscle will help burn calories. Hope this helps. Best of Luck!

Food cannot burn fat. There is no food with a negative amount of calories. Any food you eat gives you either zero or a positive amount of fat.


Exercise (and, to a lesser extent, normal activity) is what burns fat.

There"s no food that ONLY target belly fat. Just eating healthy in general and staying away from fatty foods, too much sugar and alcohol will help you get rid of belly fat.


Fruits, veggies, lean protein and whole wheat options are good. Also, vegetables such as Celery are said to actually have negative calories (your body burns more calories eating and digesting it than what it contains)

There is no such thing as a "fat burning" food. There are foods that are less likely to be stored in your body as fat, or are easier to be metabolized than others. But there is no magical food item that will, in and of itself, melt away fat that has built up in your system. Anyone who tells you otherwise is yanking your chain. Oh, it is also a myth that the chewing of a piece of celery or an apple will negate the number of calories you are ingesting. Check out any reputable nutritionists (with REAL credentials) and they will tell you the same. There is no way to get rid of your excess tummy than to work at it, with proper diet, exercise and time, which will help you lose weight. And, after a while, you will raise your metabolism so that the calories you do consume will be more efficiently used by your body and you will be less likely to gain too much. By the way: I checked out that web site someone suggested. Don"t waste your time.

Food does not "burn" anything, especially belly fat. To lose belly fat, avoid saturated fats (such as eggs and other animal products) and avoid refined carbohydrates such as white flour products and sugar.


Focus on whole foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains (oatmeal, brown rice), legumes (beans, peas, lentils) and in moderation nuts, seeds and dark chocolate (no milk products as an ingredient in the dark chocolate). Avocados and cinnamon are healthy. Avos are high in fat, but it"s plant sourced and is healthy. Eat frequent, smaller meals, never go longer than 3 hours without eating. Eat 3 smallish meals and 3 healthy snacks spread evenly throughout the day. Stay hydrated, get adequate sleep, only weigh yourself once a week.


Now for the "burn", cardiovascular exercise where your heart rate is raised is how you burn fat. Weight training will build muscles which will raise metabolism and burn calories (and fat) at a faster rate 24/7 even while sleeping.

Ok, belly fat (aka visceral fat) is very very often a sign of high high insulin resistance, which what that means is it means your body doesn"t deal with carbohydrates properly. What it actually means is that when you eat carbohydrates which could be pastries, sugars, fruits, anything like that, your body overproduces the hormone insulin to take the sugar out of the blood and to drive it into other parts of the body.


If you overproduce this, what happens is you just tend to get an insulin dump and this insulin dump is more likely leading you to be fat, it"s also more likely to lead you to diabetes. So this is a very important thing to address. Dealing with insulin resistance is actually fairly simple and dealing with visceral fat is something that we can actually do very successfully.


It just requires the right exercise regime. The right exercise regime is pretty much always a little bit of cardiovascular work, the primary stretch of the weight training because weight training improves insulin sensitivity in the body, and the diet, you need a diet that controls blood sugar. A diet that controls blood sugar is very simple. You need a lowered carbohydrate diet. The Atkins Diet is perfect for anyone looking to lose some fat. Go to "Google Images" and type in Atkins Diet and a food pyramid will show up giving you that diet.


So the way to lose visceral fat is to combat the insulin resistance, is to cut down on your carbohydrates intake. Rather than have cereal in the morning, have 2 or 3 eggs. Rather than have a bowl of pasta at lunch time, have a chicken salad and rather than have a pizza when you go home at night.


There are also a couple of supplements out there, put out by the same company, a company called Poliquin Performance, these supplements are called Fenuplex and Insulinomics.

These two supplements when combined have a lot of success in dealing with beer bellies in my experience. They help really strip out that visceral fat and enable your body to use that visceral fat as an energy source above using subcutaneous fat and the belly can come down extremely quickly almost like popping a balloon. .

There is no such food or drink that will burn belly fat. You CANNOT burn fat in one part of your body alone, spot training for fat reduction is bogus and a total myth.


There is only one way to rid belly fat……proper diet, low in fats and cardio, cardio and cardio!!

Yes exercise burns calories. Weight training actually burns the most calories, but walking or jogging will burn a lot of calories as well. If you want to lose weight you will also need to cut back on how much you are eating as well. Try to eat healthy foods that are low in calories like raw fruits and vegetables. Try to track how many calories you are eating and shoot for eating around 1,200. Do not eat less than 1,200 calories though or you will go into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down therefore you will burn less calories throughout the day and have no energy. Remember to drink a lot of water as well, this will cleanse your system, and ice cold water will actually help you burn extra calories. Also drink a lot of water with meals, because (unless you are over age 35), it will help you to feel fuller and therefore consume less calories in your meal. Green tea is another good tool for weight loss, it will help rev your metabolism. Try to exercise in the morning because your metabolism is more efficient for hours after you work out, so if you work out in the morning you will burn more calories throughout the day. Also make sure to get proper sleep. Getting enough sleep is important in loosing weight. I heard some people saying a full days workout does make a difference, and i heard others say that you wont burn anything.. That results take time…

There should be plenty of sources that can calculate how many calories are burned for each type of activity. But be aware, these calculations can only be rough estimates because every person uses energy at different rates.


Males, for instance, tend to burn more calories, for the same level of activity, than females, because males TEND to have larger muscles. Some people have faster metabolism. Some people "push" themselves harder than others. Some will "cheat" on a sit up while another extends himself more.


In general, the kind of exercise that makes you breathe harder (aerobics) burn calories faster than strength exercises. All activity will first burn calories in the form of sugars in the blood stream. (glucose) Only after these are used up, will the body start converting fat into glucose the cells can use. Glucose that the body does not immediately need is converted into fat.


So, just looking at how many calories you burn off will not immediately translate into how much fat is lost. The most basic calculation to be considered is that, if you burn more calories than you take in with food or drink, weight loss will occur. How fast depends on those factors I mentioned earlier.

You"re burning calories at the highest rate when you"re in agony, sweating profusely, heart pounding and you feel sick from the intense exercise you"re doing. But you don"t need to go that far. To burn calories at a fast rate, you need to get your heart rate up as high as you can, make yourself sweat and make your muscles burn. Do something that requires you to push yourself. All physical sports are good for this, other exercises that are good include shuttle runs, bike riding, swimming lengths, squatting and jumping, taking out your anger on a punching bag etc. Home workout programmes like p90x and insanity are very good. Exercising like this not only burns fat, but also tones muscles and makes you fit.


You could try dieting, 1500 cals a day usually equates to a loss of 1lbs of fat per week. If you combine a 1500 cal/day diet with light exercise like going for short jogs (like 20mins), using a cross trainer, or even 30 minute routines consisting of star jumps, running on the spot etc. Then you"d lose weight pretty fast, you"d look different in a month. But like I said before, fastest way to do it is to exercise intensely. Daily, hour long workouts that make you have to really push yourself. You"d look different in 2 weeks.


Whatever you do, make sure you cut out junk food completely while you"re trying to loose weight. Just eat carbs and protein, no fat, and sugar should only come from fruit. You can eat sugary, fatty things once in a while if you just want to maintain your weight, but as long as you want to loose weight fast, cut it all out.

It"s recommended women get cardio, toning, and flexibility to keep all aspects of your body in shape. Try to switch your routine up every day, and always remember to stretch before and after to prevent injury.


Exercising may increase your appetite, like it did for me, so it"s important you buy only healthy foods. Cutting out white products (bread and pasta) and eating more fruits/veggies is a great way to change your diet and lose pounds with little effort. There are no magic remedies to rid of body fat. If there were, the inventor would be a millionaire and nodoy would have fat.


A proper diet and exercise is the best option to rid of fat. A diet low in fat and no saturated fat, with moderate complex carbs and no sugar or salts and a higher intake of protein is recommended. Also include plenty of fruits and vegetables. Do not gorge on your meal. Eat in moderation.


Cardio exercise along with weight lifting is your best option. 30 minutes of cardio exercise 3 times a week minimum at 60 to 80% of your peak target heart rate is recommended for maintenance. The longer the workout, the higher the intensity and the more days you add will greatly benefit towards your goal.


Unfortunately, when the body loses fat, it starts in the areas which contains the "least" density. For example, if your arms have the least amount of fat compared to the rest of your body, the fat will burn off there first. The sad part is, for women, the last place burn and lose fat is the buttocks/hips while for men is in the abdominal region since those are the areas with the most density.


If you have performed the above suggestions and still fail to lose fat, then I suggest you talk to a nutirtionist to determine if you are on a proper diet for your structure and lifestyle, or a trainer to determine if you have performed the proper exercises needed to lose weight or your doctor and rule out any genetic defects. In very few cases, cosmetic surgery is the only answer.

As a check: the average 25 year old 5’4” tall woman who weighs 120 lbs. And has a moderately active lifestyle will need 1900 calories all day.(1 day=1440 minutes) That is 1.33 calories/min. The average 25 year old 5’8” tall man who weighs 140 lbs. And has a moderately active lifestyle will need 2280 calories all day. That is 1.6 calories/min.

Typical exercises you can do without equipment are: aerobics, walking, running, and press-ups. As someone who has been on a diet and keep fit regime for seven years, my advice, which I follow myself, is to treat diet as the way to control your weight and leave exercise for keeping fit and developing muscle. You need to separate the two in your mind.

Diet won"t burn fat, exercise burns fat. You need to reduce the number of calories you take in, and exercise to burn the calories you have stored as fat.


If you try diet alone, you will have to basically starve yourself to make the physical acts of moving around in your daily life burn more calories than you take in. Sorta like a self imposed concentration camp effect.


Starvation diets deny your body the minerals and vitamins they need and lead to damage to your organs.


So, get on a good low calorie diet providing you with all the vitamins and minerals you need, and incorporate exercise into your life by walking up the stairs instead of taking the escalator at work or the mall, walk around the block and look at the flowers, etc.

I am 5.3 ad weight 135 i don´t look fat, my upper body es very fit but my lower body need work, i would like to lose 20 pounds but i don´t seem to lose weight, i exercise 7 days a week 1 to 2 hours daily i don´t any junk food. Okay. Cut out eating in between meals.

Only eat healthy food and cut down on Carb’s like bread, potatoes, pasta"s, rice, cereals, lollies, fruits etc. These are the fat making foods. Learn exactly what your food groups are so you then know what puts the weight on and off.

Don’t add salt to your meals. Cut out soft drinks.

Then walk an hour every morning two hours after a meal and the same in the afternoon.


If you can jog in between both sessions you"ll burn even more calories. But just do what your body lets you do. Walking is just as good combined with diet control.

You should lose and continue to lose more weight as you go.

If you can cut out your lunch meal and replace it with a protein drink instead that would also help. Available in supermarkets. Like “Slim Right”.

As long as you can stay off junk food and eating in between meals. If you have to eat something in between have something like small raw carrots or celery sticks.

Herbal teas, low fat milk and water are your best choice of drinks.


Summary:


Choose a cereal low in sugar for breakfast. Remember all cereals are carbohydrates!

Lunch can best be a protein drink. Like “Slim Right”.

And all normal meals at a normal serve. Cut down on potatoes and only have small portions of these. Walking as much as you can.

For those that want to build more muscle add some gym work to the above as well.

All our bodies require a specific quantity of a protein level. The protein is taken from the food we eat. If we eat higher concentrations of protein from specific foods like say meat then that level is reached quickly. If we don’t eat enough protein then our body searches for other sources of protein contained within the Carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates only contain a small amount of protein so we end up consuming too much of it just to get out limit of protein. At the same time absorbing too much sugar from the carbohydrates and in turn too much weight. This is how and why we put on weight. Many people over eat because they don’t consume enough protein from the right sources. Then they over compensate by binge eating carbohydrate type foods.

If you exercise in the morning BEFORE you eat, your body is in a fasted state and is FORCED to get its energy from the fat that you have stored, instead of AFTER you eat and youre burning off the food thats in your bloodstream. Your body does not like to dip into its energy reserve unless it HAS to.


This has worked for me WITHOUT FAIL and all it requires is discipline. I lost 26 lbs in 7 weeks doing 30 mins of cardio on the elliptical every morning. And I didnt diet but just cut a lot of the fast food and sweets. Thats it. Everytime I gain weight I do this and in a couple weeks Im back to normal. Good luck!
