When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.

If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which

will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow

underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without

exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For

diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food

after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on

your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If

you don"t eat wheat then you don"t eat all those sticky, fatty goey

cakes, you don"t eat junk food, and you don"t eat biscuits. But your

diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to

calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,

start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the

most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a

lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,

disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target

your problem areas for men and women. It"s not necessarily to become a

bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you

to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Would waking up in middle of night to eat small healthy snack increase weight loss?

I have a theory but need your opinion on its practice. Eating jump starts metabolism and makes you burn calories faster. I wake every night at 3am to go to the bathroom. If I were to eat a small healthy snack (almond, dried fruit) would this increase the number of calories I burn, and therefore increase weight loss?

Hi Catherine, if that snack is over and above your usual calories then it will actually contribute to weight gain, if it is part of your usual diet then eat at a more convenient time of the day. Quality sleep is much more important for your body, don"t mess with it, go potty then head back to bed and eat in the morning.

This eating many small meals has almost no discernable impact on metabolism. Whether you eat 3 x 600 calorie meals or 6 x 300 calorie meals you still eat 1800 calories. There can be some other benefits for some people to eat more or less meals. Simply choose what suits your diet and lifestyle best and you will give yourself the best chance you have to achieve your goals.

There are a lot of misconceptions and close to down right lies when it comes to losing weight and this qualifies in that range.

Healthy, effective weight loss?

So this year I am going to be switching schools, and I would really like to lose some weight before I go. I"m 5"7" and about 140 lbs. In the past when I have tried to lost weight, I have a lot of trouble because I just really love to eat. I am just wondering if anyone knows of any way to shed some pounds relatively quickly but also in a way where I won"t have to deprive myself of food. Thank you :)

(also, I"m not looking for anyone to just say "you"re fine the way you are," I"m just looking for some advice.)

Eat 6 meals a day, every 3-4 hours.

Keep your goal weight EVERYWHERE! (On your refrigerator, tables, counters, mirror, walls, notebooks, on your phone, in your fridge, anywhere you can think of.. It helps keep you motivated)

Everytime you go to get sweets, junk food or any fatty foods.. Remember why you"re avoiding them.

Get rid of all the junk food in your house

Eat ; fruits, vegetables, fish, lean meats, nuts & seeds

Do lots of cardio

Drink lots of water, along with lemon water and green tea (lemons and green tea help boost your metabolism and burn fat)

Find out how many calories you"re required to eat daily ; Http://caloriecount.about.com/tools/calo…

Before you eat, drink water.. You could be mistaking thirst with hunger.

Work hard, because if you do.. You"ll see results pretty fast.

Find a buddy, if you have someone there to push you while you work out.. It helps and if you"re eating healthier with someone else.. They can keep you motivated.

Keep a food journal, it helps so that you"re not sugar coating what you eat(you"re being completely honest with yourself)

Keep in mind, it"s okay to set aside 1-2 days a week for cheat meals.. Just don"t go overboard

Chewing gum helps too, it keeps your mouth occupied (I"d suggest Extra gum, it"s only 5 calories per piece)

Have people around you that support you, not try to make you fail.

Keep weight loss quotes around the house, like.. "The more you sweat, the better you get" "Nobody has ever drowned in their own sweat" etc.

Don"t give up, no matter what.

Yoga helps with weight loss and it relieves stress.

Weight watchers works!

Stretching is important before & after you work out (you don"t want to get injured)
